RE: Jayco Slideout Problem

I hate to think the motor would be bad already...but who knows. Is a 1/6th HP "vonweise" brand, model V05726AV88.
I did pull the motor off the slide to see if it would run under no load, but not even a hum.

RE: Operating slide motor on less than full 12v battery charge

If you're not confident, even after connecting to the tow vehicle, you could use the manual crank to retract the slide.

RE: Shower hose guide

I cut a notch in the shower hose guide just narrow enough to release the hose. It works well and can be placed back into position while traveling.

RE: adjusting slide mechanism

Question, where would be a good place to check if the slide room is level?
Set up the trailer on a hard surface, such as concrete.
Level the trailer.
Fully extend the slide room.
Place a 4' level under the floor of the slide room, between the two slide mechanisms.
Adjust as needed.
Good luck,
Mike

RE: electric brakes "drum removal"

The drum and axle hub are one piece.
Remove the dust cap in the center of the hub. Remove the cotter pin and hub retaining nut and washer. Remove the outer bearing. The drum should slide off of the axle.
As others have stated, back off on the brake adjusters also

Vertical adjusting bolts
http://pic80.picturetrail.com/VOL1000/4369537/9227465/318735227.jpg
Fully extend the slide room.
Place a jack under the slide room frame to hold the weight of the slide room. If the slide room is level, do not raise or lower the jack.
While the jack is supporting the weight of the slide room, loosen the two vertical adjusting bolts.
Straighten the slide mechanism and re-tighten the vertical adjusting bolts.
Test the slide room travel.

RE: adjusting slide mechanism

Synchronizing the slide room
http://pic80.picturetrail.com/VOL1000/4369537/9227465/318732967.jpg
Fully extend the slide-out, then retract it about 1/2".
Loosen the synchronizing bolts on the side of the slide-out that is not sealing correctly.
From inside the trailer, manually push the slide room outward until the inner seal just contacts the wall, then tighten the synchronizing bolts.
Move the slide in and out a couple of times to check.
Re-adjust if necessary.

RE: Hose Carrier on the TT

kearlms,
I bought two 46" Valterra tubes and installed them under my Rockwood, near the tank drain.
My TT has an enclosed underbelly. To support the underbelly material, there's a support strap running the width of the underside. This support strap runs from the right "I" beam frame to the left "I" beam frame.
To install the Valterra storage tubes, I screwed one end to the left(street side) "I" beam using 3/16" self-tapping screws.
To support the other end of the storage tubes, I screwed a short length of Aluminum flat bar the the underbelly support strap, where the Valterra storage tubes end. I then screwed the storage tubes to the Aluminum flat bar, using the same size self-tapping screws.

If your TT doesn't have the enclosed underbelly, you could run a support strap from one side of the frame to the other. Then mount the Valterra storage tubes to it. The strap can be made of flat bar or angle iron.
Good luck,
Mike

RE: 2008 flagstaff need help with hot water

If you have a by pass valve between the two lines that go to the tank it may be open and you will only get a little warm water. Just shut the valve and things will work the way they are suppose to.
Very good advice.

If it'll help, go to THIS PAGE.
Once there, go to page 12 for lighting instructions for your model.

RE: 2008 flagstaff need help with hot water

The Anode Rod and the Heating element are two different items. The Anode Rod equalizes aggressive water action, preventing corrosion of the tank.
As stated in previous post, it may take a while to light on Gas because of air in the line. Also, if for some strange reason the electric element switch was turned on with LOW or NO water in the tank, the electric element could have burned out.

RE: 2008 flagstaff need help with hot water

leidig32,
Are you trying to run it on Gas or Electric? What do you mean by "then plugged in the anode"?
The switch on the outside is for the electric heating element. The switch on the inside is to turn on the Gas Igniter when running on Propane. If trying to run on Gas, sometimes there's air in the line and takes a while to light.

RE: Forest River Extended Warranty

Is this something that you must do through Forest River? I have ordered a 8313SS and who I ordered through told me NOTHING about it but tried to get me to buy their extended warranty for A LOT MORE. I will likely forego the dealer's extended warranty, but for $150 it might be worth it from FR.
How does one get the Extended Warranty from FR?
Thanks in advance.
When we bought our FR, I asked the dealer about extending the warranty. I had learned about it here. He said it was the 1st one they had ever done. They don't offer it nor tell buyers about it because they want them to buy the more expensive extended warranty through them. At least he was honest about it.
DITTO.......
Same experiance with our dealer. I purchased the 2nd year warranty from FR a couple weeks after taking deliver.

RE: free standing dinette ---good or bad

But how do you keep the chairs from flying all over the place?
Clip their wings. :D
Just kidding. ;)
The table is bolted to the floor and special strap are supplied to hold the chairs in place while in transit.

You'll need two bottle jacks, a few wooden blocks and 4 jack stands to do it this way.
